Registrations begins for JEE Advanced 2020. Procedure to apply, cut offs and other details to know.

 Joint Entrance Examination {JEE} Advanced 2020: This year the exam will be held by IIT-Delhi on September 27. Eligible candidates can register for JEE Advanced 2020 at jeeadv.ac.in. The online registration for the same has began on September 12 and will be closed on September 17 while the fees can be paid till September 18.

Aspirants clearing JEE will get a seat for BTech programmes in engineering college in IITs as per their ranking and counseling, however only top rank holders as per the JEE Main cut offs are eligible to apply for the JEE Advanced. The clause of securing a minimum 75% in the Class 12 board or equivalent exam has been waived off this year due to the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic to board exams.

The Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ took to Twitter and said: “For admissions to IITs, apart from qualifying the JEE (Advanced), the eligibility was to secure either a minimum score of 75% marks in class XII Board exams or rank among the top 20 percentile in their qualifying examinations. Due to the partial cancellation of class XII exams by several Boards, Joint Admission Board (JAB) has decided to relax the eligibility criterion for JEE (Advanced) 2020 qualified candidates this time.”

Stepwise Application Process:

  1. Visit the official website jeeadv.ac.in
  2. Click on the registration link.
  3. Register yourself by filling in the accurate information and generate ID and password.
  4. Login with the same ID password and fill the application form uploading the required documents.
  5. Pay the application fee and submit.

Exam Pattern :

JEE Advanced 2020 will be conducted in Computer based {CBT} mode and will consist of two question papers to be solved in three hours each. To familiarise candidates with an online exam, mock tests will also be made available at the website, as per the IIT. Both the papers are compulsory to be attended and preparing an aggregate of marks obtained in both the exams will decide the rankings. This year, the exam will be held with upholding social distancing norms due to Covid-19. Additionally, wearing a mask and carrying a sanitizer will also be mandatory.
