Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Education Minister, Govt. of Assam under the Dr. Banikanta Kakati Merit Award of Pragyan Bharti scheme of state Government, distributed 15,160 scooters to the girl students who secured merit positions.

A total of 5028 students from the batch 2018 and 10,132 students from the batch 2019 were selected on merit basis for the distribution of scooters.

The program was held in the auditorium of Gauhati Medical College in the Bhangagarh area of Guwahati. Earlier, in the first phase of Pragyan Bharti scheme, Assam Government distributed nearly 22000 free scooters to the girl students.

Taking to his official twitter handle, the Minsiter wrote, 
GoA has launched the second phase of Dr Banikanta Merit Award today, Feb 17, with distribution of scooters to 15,160 bright girl students. 5,028 girl students have been selected on merit basis from HSE batch 2018 & 10,132 have been selected from that of 2019 batch
