CBSE Announces Class 10th Marks Evaluation Procedure. Results to be declared by the Third Week of June 2021.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the marking criteria for class 10th students. They will be marked out of 100 for each subject out of which internal assessment carries 20 marks while 80 marks will be for various exams conducted throughout the year.

If a candidate did not appear in any of the assessment tests, the school may conduct an offline or online or a telephonic test with documentary evidence. The results will be declared by the third week of June 2021.

The exams for which 80 marks has been allocated would include periodic tests, half-yearly or mid-term exams and pre-board exam. “The marks should be in consonance with the past performance of the school in Class 10 Board examinations,” read the official notification.

The board has asked schools to set up result committees comprising of principal and seven teachers for finalising the Class X results.
Students with disabilities who have not appeared in any of the examinations conducted by the school, will be assessed based on their school activities such as portfolios, presentations, project, quiz and oral tests.

The Board has also made provisions for granting grace marks to students who do not obtain the minimum marks needed to pass the exams. “In case after application of grace marks policy by the Board, any student is not able to meet the qualifying criterion, he/she will be placed in “Essential Repeat” or “Compartment” Category,” the board has notified.

The schools have been asked to preserve students records along with supporting documents. Officials from the board may verify the records and the process used by schools to ensure authenticity of the results. If schools are found to have resorted to unfair practices, the board may take punitive action against them.

Following the announcement of class X results, schools will conduct objective-type compartment exams in online or offline mode based on sample question papers. Students who do not qualify based on these criteria will be given provisional admission in class XI till compartment results are announced.

No re-evaluation of answer books for results calculated based on the objective criteria will be allowed, CBSE said. For private, patrachar and second-chance compartment students, a separate assessment scheme will be announced soon by the board.
