Assam Governement Cancels Class 10th, 12th Board exams.
The committees will be constituted to decide the criteria for evaluation. The results would be declared within July 31.
In view of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Assam government, today on June 18,2021 cancelled state board examinations for class 10th and 12th.
We have decided to cancel the exam keeping the Covid situation in mind,” announced Education Minister, Ranoj Pegu, at a press conference in Guwahati on Friday afternoon.
He further said that two committees will be formed for execution of the evaluation process— one for class 10, under the Board of Secondary Education Assam (SEBA), and the other for Class 12, under the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC). The committees would decide the criteria for evaluation within a week. “The results would be declared within July 31,” he said.
The exams were initially scheduled for May 11, 2021 which were earlier postponed by the state Government. The decision was revised once more by the state government of conducting the exams between August 1 -15.
The students from Assam had moved the Supreme Court on Monday, demanding cancellation of the exams. The final announcement of cancellation of exams has come after constant pressure on the government to cancel the exam on health safety reasons.
