CTET and Teaching
Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is an examination conducted nationally by the Central Board of Secondary Edcucation (CBSE). The exam is conducted twice a year in 112 cities across the country in order to do a screening of candidates aspiring to apply for teacher recruitments in the schools for Classes 1 to 8. A candidate applying for a teacher post is mandate to qualify in the CTET examination.
The CTET shall apply to central Government Schools like KVS, NVS etc, and may also be eligible to apply to private schools, who may consider the CTET . State Government Schools also opt for considering CTET, if decides not to conduct the state level examination Teacher EligibilityTest – TET.
There are two CTET papers in the exam, ie. Paper-I and Paper-II. Candidates who apply for teaching in Classes 1-5 have to give Paper-I and candidates wish to teach Classes 6-8 need to take Paper-II. Candidates who plan to teach Classes 1-8 need to take both the papers.
